Visa Requirements (Top) Citizens of the EU and many other countries do not need to apply for a visa if they stay less than three months in Japan. You will get a tourist visa when you arrive at the airport. Such a visa can be extended up to three months. (Current list of visa exemptions). You can find the current visa regulations and for periods longer than three months here. In case you need a visa, you usually have to submit the following documents (depends on your country of residence): - letter of acceptance from Asahi - health insurance - return ticket - passport - a bank deposit of a certain amount of money (please ask the Japanese embassy in your country of residence) - passport photographs (submission of further documents may be necessary depending on your country of residence)
