Canal City Hakata

Canal City Hakata is located in the middle of the Hakata and Tenjin area where it is very easy to access. It offers a great range of entertainment opportunities similar to a city theater and is different from other shopping centers. Starting from the unique appearance of the building, which is painted with the colours also used for the traditional Japanese Kimono which makes you feel comfortable and relaxed.

You can not only be entertained by the appearance of the building but also by its outside activities such as a fountain show, seasonal decorations and stage events. Also movies, a musical theater and about 250 shops and restaurants are available inside of the shopping center. The Grand Hyatt Fukuoka and Washington Hotel Canal City Fukuoka are built next to Canal City Hakata, so it is very convenient for guests who stay in those hotels as well. For your appetite, Ramen Stadium is unique to Canal City Hakata. There are 8 famous Ramen restaurants gathered from all over Japan and they compete with each other to be the No.1 Ramen restaurant, which attracts domestic and foreign Ramen lovers. The most famous Tonkotsu Ramen (Kyushu Ramen) can be bought in the shops so if you have not tried it yet, don't miss it!

Daimaru

Daimaru is a well known shopping center in Japan that operates a chain of department stores in Osaka, Kyoto and Tokyo etc. Hakata Daimaru (Fukuoka) is larger than any other Daimaru in Kyushu and is located in the center of Tenjin.

It is separated into the east and main (west) building and each one has a different range of shops which match all kinds of customers. There are also foreign currency exchange services and translators available at the general information desk on the 1st floor in the main (west) building so why don't you go and shop at Hakata Daimaru!

Inter Media Station

IMS (Inter Media Station) is the place to get the latest information about Fukuoka. It was originally designed to be divided into a shopping, communication and culture zone. You will enjoy a variety of clothes and shops in the shopping zone from the B2F to the 3F, then a relaxation spa and fortune telling session between the 4F and 8F. Also, you can access an international information exchange place, Rainbow Plaza.

The culture zone spans the 9F to the 11F, which is a multipurpose area where live musical performances are held. Also there is an ABC cooking school and ECC language school for educational purposes.

Iwataya

Iwataya is a department store based in Fukuoka with the main building and the new one neighbouring each other. The main building offers family oriented shopping opportunities with assorted selections of mens' , ladies' and kids' articles. The new building mainly deals with both national and international ladies' fashion brands.

Both buildings are connected via a passageway on the B1F and 2F so customers are able to easily go from one building to the next. Grocery stores on the B1F and B2F offer various seasonal foods and sweets every day. Thanks to the Iwataya / Mitsukoshi coalition formed in 2010, they have started to offer joint services for the convenience of customers.

Parco

Fukuoka Parco opened in March 2010 in the area of Tenjin targeting the younger generation between 10 and 20 years of age. New famous brand shops opened that had not set foot in Fukuoka yet have now opened their stores.
There are 9 touch vision screens available in English, Chinese and Korean for consulting the floor guide.This service is unique and it is just like playing a video game! Some of the restaurants on the B1 floor provide local dishes and the cafés offer a variety of sweets where you can just sit down and have a chat! Grocery stores and souvenir shops are also available for you to take memorabilia back home!
