Today we take a look at another unique tourist spot in Fukuoka prefecture.

Today’s focus is on the so-called Nanzoin, a temple complex near the city of Sasaguri.

Originally located on Mr. Koyasan, but destroyed in 1886, today’s temple was founded in 1899. Around one million tourists visit the temple and its surroundings every year.

Besides the temple building another famous spot is the so-called Declinig Buddha, a bronze Buddha statue, which is 41 metres long, 11 metres high and said to weight around 300 tons. The Declinig Buddha displays the death of Buddha or entrance into Nirvana.

The easiest way to visit Nanzoin is from Hakata by train.

So why not take a day trip to Nanzoin next time?
