When you come to Asahi Nihongo, we usually take you on a city tour on your first day. During this tour, we visit a Shinto shrine located in the city center Tenjin. Today, I would like to teach you how to pray at a Shinto shrine, so that you are prepared for your city tour. (Shinto is the most important indigenous religion in Japan.)
- Put your monetary offering in the box. (There is no fixed amount, so you can decide by yourself how much to spend.)
- Ring the bell once.
- Bow twice.
- Clap twice while thinking about your wish.
- Bow once.
