Testimonial for Kirin kindergarten

kirin
Hello, I did an internship at a Japanese kindergarten/ nursery called Kirin in Fukuoka and have been working there for eight weeks from May 26th to July 17th.
The kindergarten/ nursery is located in the south of Fukuoka and they host about 500 kids from 0 – 5. 30 people work at Kirin.

As an intern, I taught some English to 4 and 5 year old kids. The rest of the time I watched the lessons in Japanese, when the kids were learning Hiragana, words or math. When they crafted some things I usually assisted the teachers and helped the kids to get things/ pictures/ origami etc. done. I have also helped in preparing the class for lunch and snack time (change clothes of the kids, prepare the tables etc.)

I think the most important skills an intern at ‘Kirin’ needs are patience and flexibility because you always need to handle children.
For me, eight weeks have been enough to get an insight in Japanese working culture in general and particularly in working with kids.
Although, My colleagues were nice and I have learned much about the Japanese work environment and what is important when working in Japan.
