When visiting Fukuoka’s tourist attractions, one should not leave out the Fukuoka Tower.
Located at Momochi Seaside, Fukuoka Tower, opened in 1989, is the tallest seaside tower in Japan with an approximate height of 234 meters. Visitors can enjoy a great view over the city of Fukuoka, the coast and the small islands of Fukuoka Prefecture. Moreover, couples can also take romantic pictures at the tower’s so-called “Lover’s Sanctuary” and buy their own heart-shaped key.
The tower’s admission fee is ¥800 for adults, but if you show the staff the Official Fukuoka City Tourist Map and tell them your nationality, the fee will be reduced to ¥640 and you will also receive a postcard for free. Opening hours are from 9:30 to 22:00. At night, one can also enjoy the tower’s different illuminations.
The easiest way to get to the tower is by bus, which stops right in front of it. A one-way-ride from Tenjin costs about ¥230.
Next to Fukuoka Tower is also a beautiful beach as well as small restaurants and shops, where one can relax and enjoy the wonderful seaside of Fukuoka.
