If you happen to stay or travel through Japan, you’ll probably wonder where to find Wi-Fi outside of your home or hotel. There are a lot of places where you can connect to the Internet for free. In the following, we will show you the most common useful methods.

1. Konbinis
Almost every bigger Konbini chain in Japan has its own Wi-Fi network. This includes Lawson, Family Mart and 7/11. When you are at a Lawson store, just connect connect to the Internet, open your browser and a menu should appear, guiding you through the process. The network of 7/11 is even easier to access – just select the Wi-Fi and you’re immediately connected. Family Mart is a bit more time-consuming. You will first have to register with an email address and set up an account with which you can access the network twice a day.
2. Starbucks
Starbucks offers a super fast Wi-Fi network for its customers. Just select the Wi-Fi, open your browser and log in. You can either set up a Starbucks Wi-Fi account, or just log in with your Facebook account to access the Internet.
3. Public Wi-Fi
Some cities, including Fukuoka, offer public Wi-Fi services that can be accessed at public buildings such as town halls or subway and train stations.

In addition to this list, most mall and store chains offer networks as well. Just keep an eye on the available networks and you should find a access spot relatively fast.
