SoftBank Hawks 

Today we will talk about Fukuoka’s baseball team, the SoftBank Hawks. Baseball is a huge thing in Japan and Fukuoka is no exception. We published articles about the Hawks’s stadium, the Yafuoku! dome and the basic rules of baseball before, today we will take a closer look at the team.

The team was formerly known as the Nankai hawks and was originally based in Osaka In 1988, the company Daiei bought the team from the Nankai electric rail Co., and its headquarters were moved to Fukuoka. Due to all the name and team changes, the hawks now have a variety of mascots, including 4 different hawks and a real white Akita-Inu called otoI san, which is often used for advertisements and promotion.


The Daiei hawks won the Pacific league championship in 1999, 2000 and 2003 and won the Japan series in 1999, 2003. After the team was bought by the company SoftBank in 2005, which gave the team its new name, the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks won the 2011, 2014 and 2015 Japan series.

Due to its success lately, the team is as popular as never before, making going to a game a really spectacular experience. Whenever the hawks win a game, fireworks are launched above the yafuoku! dome and everyone is in a cherish mood. Buying cards for a game can be done in the internet or at the stadium ticket counter.
